ALTERNATE aTTaX 2-0'd EnVyUs in the final of the European GG.BET Majestic Closed Qualifier (16-14 Inferno, 16-6 Overpass), earning a spot at the $25,000 LAN that will award an ESL One Cologne spot.
ALTERNATE aTTaX took the early lead on Inferno, Envy' map pick, after winning the CT pistol and converting the anti-ecos. Envy struck back when the rifles came into play, securing a couple of rounds to make the score 4-6, but ALTERNATE aTTaX started locking down the sites after that.
Envy barely found any kills as the German-Danish team got up to a 10-4 lead, only losing the last T round before the switch. Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen's team then won the T side pistol and the next two rounds, soon getting to a 14-6 scoreline.
The French team finally woke up then, and with some saved guns, won a round that started their comeback. Seven straight rounds went their way (14-13) before ALTERNATE aTTaX managed to win a scrappy round and eventually close out the map, 16-14.
Nils "k1to" Gruhne's USP-S 3K in the pistol round gave ALTERNATE aTTaX a good start on Overpass, with the German side quickly grabbing a 3-0 lead. After losing the first buy, Mads "Console" Skovby clutched out a back-and-forth round that broke Envy' bank, with the Frenchmen's ensuing force-buys not finding much success.
The score was 6-1 before Envy managed to pull something together on the T-side of Overpass, bringing the score back to 7-5 before ALTERNATE aTTaX managed to shore up their defenses and finish the half 10-5 up. A team ace in the CT pistol gave Envy a chance to comeback on the defensive side of the map, but ALTERNATE aTTaX's force-buy and simple A push worked out, giving them the economic edge.
With that advantage, ALTERNATE aTTaX didn't struggle closing out the game, winning it with a 16-6 scoreline after a six-round T-side streak.
